Week 8

  Week 8 This week will be a shorter one in our leveling classes, as we focus on remedial work and addressing any unfinished or challenging topics. My goal is to strengthen the students' knowledge and skills in preparation for the upcoming Mid-Term exams. I hope this time allows students to consolidate their understanding while allowing them to reset and enjoy the long weekend for Children’s Day. Looking ahead, we will thoroughly review the exam scope after the break to ensure all students are well-prepared. I will prepare various handouts and fun study activities for A2 students. Additionally, on Wednesday, April 2nd, during Period 4, we will have a special “Reverse Teaching” lesson. In this creative and engaging activity, students will take on the role of the teacher for five-minute segments, introducing the class to a craft, lesson, game, or topic of their choice.  Dear Parents, As we enter Week 7, we have a busy and productive week ahead, filled with enriching lessons that will support our students' growth in reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills. Below is an outline of the key areas we will be focusing on this week, along with a reminder regarding a special outing on Wednesday. Monday, March 24th – Tuesday, March 25th: Week 7  Words PPT Grammar: Our lessons will cover simple and compound sentences , focusing on  combining sentences using conjunctions from  FANBOYS  (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so). To reinforce these concepts, students will complete exercises on pages 85 and 94 of their  Reading/Writing Notebook (RWN) . Week 6 My Rows and Piles of Coins

Please note that the #5 word bundle was left out of the definition page.    In Week 6, we will begin an exciting new story from our Reading Street 3.1 book ,  "My Rows and Piles of Coins."  We will spend  the next three weeks exploring this story and engaging in a variety of lessons to enhance your child’s reading and comprehension skills. During the first week, we will introduce key vocabulary from the story and focus on spelling words with vowel diphthongs such as ou and ow. Additionally, students will be learning about the prefix un- (meaning "not" or "the opposite of") and the suffix -ly (used to describe how something is done, or "in a ___ way"). Please encourage students to review these concepts at home, as it will greatly reinforce their learning in class. We look forward to a productive and enjoyable learning experience with "My Rows and Piles of Coins."

Story words from your communication book : Be sure to know the spelling, definitions, and usage of the 24 vocabulary words. You will need to recognize, define, and use them in sentences. Worksheet review : For multiple-choice questions, practice identifying the correct word in context. In the vocabulary section, review how to match words with their corresponding pictures.   Week 5 PPT Kumak's Fish Story As we enter Week 5, we will have a shortened academic schedule with four school days due to the Grade 3 outing on Wednesday. During this week, our A2 students will focus on reading the story Kumak’s Fish from the Reading Street textbook. Our word work for week 5 will center around vocabulary and concepts from this story. In addition, students will deepen their understanding of two types of sentences—declarative and interrogative—through their Reader's and Writer's Notebook (RWN) lessons. We will also review all key components covered in this unit to ensure students are well-prepared for Friday's Unit Test.
