Week 7

 Dear Parents,

As we enter Week 7, we have a busy and productive week ahead, filled with enriching lessons that will support our students' growth in reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills. Below is an outline of the key areas we will be focusing on this week, along with a reminder regarding a special outing on Wednesday.

Monday, March 24th – Tuesday, March 25th:

Week 7 Words PPT

  • Grammar:
Our lessons will cover simple and compound sentences, focusing on combining sentences using conjunctions from FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so). To reinforce these concepts, students will complete exercises on pages 85 and 94 of their Reading/Writing Notebook (RWN).

  • Reading Comprehension:
We will be diving deeper into the story, My Rows and Piles of Coins, with a focus on comprehension and sequencing of the storyline. Students will practice understanding the key events and how they connect throughout the story.

  • Author’s Purpose:
On RWN p. 88, we will introduce the concept of the Author’s Purpose, helping students recognize why an author writes a passage or story, whether to inform, entertain, or persuade.

Wednesday, March 26th – Field Trip Day:
Please note that on Wednesday, we will not hold formal leveling classes as Grade 3 students will be on an outing to Xpark in Taoyuan. This trip will provide an excellent opportunity for experiential learning and aquatic habitats. Please ensure students arrive on time and are dressed appropriately for the day.

Thursday, March 27th – Friday, March 28th:

  • Continued Reading and Grammar Practice Emphasizing an overall review of the unit reading and week 7-word work:
We will continue working on grammar skills, story comprehension, and sequencing activities tied to My Rows and Piles of Coins. Students will have additional practice with sentence combining and using conjunctions.

Thank you for your continued support, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. We look forward to a fantastic and productive week of learning!
