 I would like to welcome each of my students to an exciting new semester in our A2-level program! I’m thrilled to guide your child through this journey of learning, growth, and discovery. This semester will focus on key areas such as reading, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar conventions, using our new Reading Street 3.1 RWN and reading book.

In the first half of the 2nd semester, we will explore four stories, beginning week 1 reading of Charlie McButton; along with three primary stories—What About Me? Kumak’s Fish, and My Rows and Piles of Coins—being our main focus. These stories will be the foundation for our lessons and will be assessed through weekly tests and our Mid-Term exam. Your child will be actively engaged in discussions and activities that deepen their comprehension and language skills.

To support their learning, students will have nightly homework assignments to review class lessons. This independent practice is crucial, as it allows me to assess their understanding and identify any areas where they may need extra help. I encourage all students to complete their work on their own, as this helps me better evaluate their progress.

Each Friday, your child will receive a writing assignment. This may include a personal journal entry or a genre-based writing exercise, depending on the week’s focus. Writing is an essential skill that we will work on progressively throughout the semester, helping your child develop their creativity and fluency.

It will be a packed semester of learning, and I’m committed to building a strong foundation that will prepare your child for the challenges of Grade 4. Please encourage your child to stay organized and focused as we move through each lesson.

Carl the Complainer Story Spelling Words from RWNB PPT Week 16 vocabulary words Week 16 Communication book insert As we approach Week 16, we are preparing for a busy and productive time in class. This upcoming week ahead, students will continue their journey through the story Carl the Complainer , which will help reinforce key reading skills, including identifying cause and effect relationships. In addition to reading, we will focus on grammar lessons in our Reading and Writing Notebooks (RWNB), covering pronouns and multiple-meaning words that can function as both nouns and verbs. Week 16 will also mark an important milestone as students take their final Reading Street 2.2  unit test of the semester. Spelling words from RWN Week 14 Vocabulary PPT   Firefighter Story Story Summary Pronouns Dear A2 Parents,  In the upcoming week, our class will continue exploring the Firefighter Unit in our Reading Street series. We have some exciting and important lessons planned to enhance the students' reading, spelling, and grammar skills. Here’s what we will be focusing on: Story Summary Review Students will revisit the key events and characters in the firefighter story. We will practice summarizing the main points to strengthen comprehension skills. Spelling Words We will focus on spelling words from RWNB (Reader’s and Writer’s Notebook) pages 389 and 394 .
