Dear Parents of A2, As we enter Week 18, we will focus on review and preparation for the upcoming Listening and Oral Exams. Here are the important details: Review of Weeks 11-16 Vocabulary and Definitions Throughout the week, students will participate in various activities and complete written assignments to reinforce their understanding of words and definitions from Weeks 11-16. This is crucial preparation for their Listening Exam, which will take place next Monday, December 30th. Listening Exam The listening exam, scheduled for Monday, December 30th , will cover the vocabulary and concepts reviewed during Week 18. Oral Exam For the Oral Exam, students will select a random number (1-5) corresponding to one of five spot-the-difference pictures. They will then explain in complete sentences the five differences they notice between Picture A and Picture B. Week 17 HW for 12/16 WR HW for 12/16 please complete if not done in class HW 12/17 Spot the Difference In Week 17, our class will enjoy a mix of lessons, including the introduction of a new story, "A Birthday Basket for Tía." This heartwarming tale centers on a young girl, Cecilia, who fondly remembers the special moments she's shared with her great-aunt Tía and embarks on a thoughtful quest to find the perfect gift for Tía’s birthday. Although this story will not be included in the exam, it will allow students to engage in meaningful reading while building comprehension skills. Additionally, we will lightly review words from our communication book, with a stronger focus on grammar components from the RWN workbook. Carl the Complainer Story Spelling Words from RWNB PPT Week 16 vocabulary words Week 16 Communication book insert As we approach Week 16, we are preparing for a busy and productive time in class. This upcoming week ahead, students will continue their journey through the story Carl the Complainer , which will help reinforce key reading skills, including identifying cause and effect relationships. In addition to reading, we will focus on grammar lessons in our Reading and Writing Notebooks (RWNB), covering pronouns and multiple-meaning words that can function as both nouns and verbs. Week 16 will also mark an important milestone as students take their final Reading Street 2.2 unit test of the semester. Words 1-12 HW Words 13-24 HW Week 15 PPT Carl the Complainer Story This week, we are diving into the story of Carl the Complainer in our lessons. The students will be introduced to the week's vocabulary words, which they can find in their communication books. To help them understand the words, we will use visual aids and practice sentence-building activities in class. On Friday, December 6th , the students will have a quiz covering all 24 vocabulary words. These will be selected at random, and the quiz will focus on word definitions, recognition, and proper usage. Since this is a shorter week, the homework for Tuesday and Wednesday will consist of handouts that the students need to complete and glue into their HW Bubble Books. Lastly, I’m happy to report that the students are making progress in their writing assignments.
