Friday October 4th
Dear A2 Students and Parents,
I hope this message finds you and your family well. As we move forward in our study of the current unit on Soil, I would like to update you on the schedule and the important focus points for the upcoming week.
Due to the recent typhoon and school closures, the vocabulary quiz originally scheduled for today has been postponed to Monday, October 7th during the 3rd period. Additionally, the unit test for this lesson will take place on Monday, October 14th, following the public holiday on October 10th.
To help your child prepare for the week ahead, here are some key points we will be covering in class:
- Vocabulary: Please review the vocabulary list for week 6, focusing on key terms related to soil and its importance in our environment.
- Spelling: We will be working with diphthongs (oi, oy, ou, ow) and reviewing words that feature these sounds.
- Suffixes: Encourage your child to practice identifying and using words with suffixes like -less, -ful, -er, and -or.
- Adjectives: We will study comparative and superlative adjectives in class, which are important for our grammar lessons.
- Reading Comprehension: Students will read the story on soil and highlight key sentences that discuss soil’s role and the materials found within it. Please encourage them to review these notes at home.
- Facts and Opinions: One of the skills we’re working on is distinguishing between facts and opinions, which will be part of our comprehension exercises.
- Use of Diagrams: Students will also practice using diagrams to answer questions effectively.
How You Can Help at Home:
- Spend time reviewing the vocabulary list and spelling words with your child.
- Encourage them to read through their notes and highlight key information from the text we’ve covered in class.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping your child succeed. I’m looking forward to a productive week ahead as we prepare for our quiz on Monday and our unit test the following Monday the 14th.
