Pronouns

Dear A2 Parents,

 In the upcoming week, our class will continue exploring the Firefighter Unit in our Reading Street series. We have some exciting and important lessons planned to enhance the students' reading, spelling, and grammar skills.

Here’s what we will be focusing on:

  1. Story Summary Review
    Students will revisit the key events and characters in the firefighter story. We will practice summarizing the main points to strengthen comprehension skills.

  2. Spelling Words
    We will focus on spelling words from RWNB (Reader’s and Writer’s Notebook) pages 389 and 394. Students are encouraged to practice these words at home to improve their spelling accuracy.

  3. Pronouns
    In our grammar lessons, we will cover the use of pronouns, working with exercises on RWNB pages 391 and 396. Students will learn how to replace nouns with pronouns to make their writing clearer and more concise.

  4. Facts and Opinions
    We will also dive into identifying facts and opinions in stories, an important critical reading skill. This will be covered using exercises on RWNB pages 387 and 395.

Please remind your child to complete their reading and spelling practice at home and to review the workbook pages mentioned above. These skills will be key as we continue building a strong foundation in reading and writing.

Carl the Complainer Story Spelling Words from RWNB PPT Week 16 vocabulary words Week 16 Communication book insert As we approach Week 16, we are preparing for a busy and productive time in class. This upcoming week ahead, students will continue their journey through the story Carl the Complainer , which will help reinforce key reading skills, including identifying cause and effect relationships. In addition to reading, we will focus on grammar lessons in our Reading and Writing Notebooks (RWNB), covering pronouns and multiple-meaning words that can function as both nouns and verbs. Week 16 will also mark an important milestone as students take their final Reading Street 2.2  unit test of the semester. This test will assess their understanding of the lessons we’ve covered so far, as we get ready for the upcoming final exams, and transition to Reading Street 3.
