Dear Parents of A2,

As we approach the midterm exams, I would like to emphasize the importance of your child’s preparation for these assessments. The upcoming midterms will cover material from the units we have been studying, and the exams will consist of listening, oral, and written sections. Students must review the vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and comprehension skills we have focused on in class.

In preparation for the midterms, I will provide the A2 students with a comprehensive review of all the material, including examples of how the exams will be structured. This review will help ensure that your child feels confident and prepared for each section of the exam. However, studying at home will play a crucial role in their success. Here are some important points to keep in mind:

Vocabulary and Spelling: Students should be familiar with the vocabulary words and spelling concepts from our Communication books weeks 1-7 and Readers & Writers Notebook, as well as key vocabulary from our reading selections. Reviewing definitions, suffixes, comparatives, and superlatives is essential.

Grammar and Writing: We have covered a variety of grammar topics, such as the use of diphthongs and sentence structure. Practice with sentence writing and grammar exercises will help reinforce these skills.

Comprehension and Reading: The written exam will include reading passages where students will need to identify facts, opinions, and key ideas. Practicing reading comprehension exercises at home will greatly benefit your child.

Oral and Listening Skills: Students will be assessed on their ability to listen for key information and respond appropriately in oral exams. Encourage your child to practice speaking in English and to listen actively during class reviews and discussions.

I encourage you to support your child by helping them develop a study routine in the days leading up to the midterms. Reviewing notes, completing practice exercises, and quizzing them on key concepts will greatly improve their confidence and performance. There will be activity-based exam practices that will be added to help your child review at home as well.

Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can ensure that your child is well-prepared for success in the midterm exams.
